Beginnings:
The Hudson River Shakespeare Company (HRSC) was founded in Spring 1999 by brother and sister Andrew and Kathleen Daly in Hudson Falls, NY. Initially called the Hudson Falls Community Theatre, the name was changed after the first production of A Midsummer Night's Dream that year.
Our new name reflected the focus on the works of William Shakespeare and other classical playwrights, as well as to include talent and audience from a broader region of Washington, Warren, and Saratoga counties. Performers and participants have ranged from five to eighty years old!
We prefer to maintain a clean, simple, and minimal production style. We also believe that audience members should not have to pay a lot for an entertaining theatrical experience. We are dependent on our generous advertisers and patrons to make it possible to remain committed to an affordable ticket price, and to offer many different performance opportunities with no fee or other financial commitment from the performers.
Each main stage production is cast separately from audition notices placed locally. And we are always interested in working with new people.
